'What's his beef?' - national media react to Manchester United's draw with Tottenham

Sir Jim Ratcliffe got a first look at his investment at Old Trafford as Manchester United drew Sunday's Premier League encounter with Tottenham Hotspur.

He saw £72m summer signing Rasmus Hojlund double his Premier League goal tally after just three minutes before Marcus Rashford restored his side's lead just before half-time after Richarlison’s 19th-minute equaliser.

However, Rodrigo Bentancur’s second-half goal means United are eight points from the top four having played a game more than many of their Champions League-chasing rivals. Erik ten Hag has won just one of his past six Premier League games, and below is how the national media reported on the game at Old Trafford.

David McDonnell of the Daily Mirror wrote: “Having broken his Premier League duck with that dramatic strike, Hojlund provided further proof here that he has finally adapted to the unique demands of the English game.

“A goal – a thumping finish into the roof of the net after three minutes – and an assist for Marcus Rashford represented a decent shift from United's £72million summer signing.

“When United signed Denmark international Hojlund, 20, from Atalanta for such a high fee, they were accused of panic buying and paying over the odds for such a raw talent.

United – and boss Erik ten Hag in particular – insisted they were buying a player for the long-term, one who would need time to develop but ultimately flourish into a world-class striker.

“Here, Hojlund continued the progress he has shown in recent weeks, his customary willingness to chase down everything and relentless work ethic complemented by his goal and assist.”
