Gary Lineker tells Victor Osimhen which club he should join amid Manchester United transfer links

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker believes a Premier League club would be the perfect destination for Victor Osimhen.

Back in the summer transfer window, MEN Sport reported United had considered the in-demand Napoli forward as an option to add depth to their attack. Harry Kane was considered the first choice, but it soon became clear Tottenham Hotspur would not sell to a Premier League rival.

Eventually, the Reds decided to make a £72million move for Rasmus Hojlund but were unable to bring another centre-forward to Old Trafford to accompany him. This has left United painfully short in attack, and with Anthony Martial expected to depart in the summer, INEOS will need to bring in at least one No.9 in their first pre-season window.

On Friday evening, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis announced Osimhen would be leaving his club after negotiations over a new contract reached a stalemate. De Laurentiis predicts the Nigerian forward will join Real Madrid, PSG or a 'top English club' at the end of the season.

Before De Laurentiis' comments, Lineker sent a message to Osimhen about which club he should join next. Unfortunately for United, his answer was not the Reds.

He explained on The Rest is Football podcast: "I think I’d look at it and I’d go, at the moment, Arsenal. Obviously, we’re talking about everyone offering the same thing, that’s what you want, blah blah blah in your contract.

"I mean, to be honest, they earn so much now that you can just choose where you want to go. I would say, Arsenal are probably a centre-forward away from winning things.

"Chelsea are a centre-forward away from becoming competitive again.
