Two Garnacho moments proved Shearer right about Manchester United's biggest problem in attack

Manchester United won't get any credit for their dramatic win over Newport County yesterday. Rightfully so.

The whole world was willing for them to fall victim to a historical FA Cup upset and despite a very real scare, they managed to make their quality show by the end with a two-goal margin.

It doesn't mean there weren't real positives to take, though. Lisandro Martinez was impressive on his return to action; Kobbie Mainoo netted his first senior goal; and most impressively of all, Rasmus Hojlund put in a really good effort in attack.

Hojlund won't have many easier finishes than his effort for the fourth goal of the match, but it is credit to him for being in the right place at the right time that he was on hand to seal the game for his side. It's so simple, but if you put yourself in the right areas, you will score a lot of goals.

The Danish forward's goal also followed a common theme this season. He has largely had to do things alone, with very little help from his teammates.

“I thought he toiled away really well up front on his own," Alan Shearer told BBC One after the win. “He led the line really well. I thought he deserved his goal because of that. He's alive, and he sticks it away really well. He never stopped all afternoon.

“It's frustrating at times, playing in that team, because I'm not quite sure when the ball is coming in. But you've got to keep going, and he did that and he got his goal. He deserved it."
