Viktor Gyokeres 'approach' made as Man United transfer reality becomes clear
Manchester United's summer transfer window has already been incredibly busy after such a disappointing campaign in 2024/25.
Ruben Amorim was under no illusions of the scale of the task this summer having observed his side fold on numerous occasions during the course of the season. During the tour of Asia, Amorim admitted that he was not expecting huge amounts of business to be done due to the lack of Champions League football.
However, United have already signed Wolverhampton Wanderers' Matheus Cunha and remain in talks to bring Bryan Mbeumo to the club from Brentford. In our latest look at the media headlines, it appears that the Reds are perhaps making moves for their next summer addition.
According to Sky Sports News, United have made their first initial approach for Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres. The Swedish centre-forward has reportedly been contacted through intermediaries as the Reds look to scope out the numbers behind a potential deal.
It is thought that this deal is being pursued regardless of Rasmus Hojlund's future at Old Trafford. Sky add that United are currently looking at a number of players in this position.
What MEN Sport says: It appears that United are finally looking to address one of their most problems heading into next season. The lack of goals from centre-forwards this campaign was pitifull and it is no surprise to hear reports that Amorim is focusing efforts towards signing Gyokeres. We already know that the Swede fits Amorim's system perfectly and considering his sensational form this campaign, United would be mad not to look at the 27-year-old.
It is understood that both Chelsea and Arsenal have made initial enquiries regarding the potential addition of Alejandro Garnacho to their squad.
