Vicente Besuijen told to show Aberdeen FC patience as Barry Robson opens up on transfer waiting game

Aberdeen boss Barry Robson has urged Vicente Besuijen to show patience and told him he will get his chance.

The Dutch winger has returned from an injury-hit loan spell at Excelsior last season. Besuijen is flying in training but Robson claimed there are others ahead of him, although he admitted the entire squad will be needed for their domestic and European assaults. Robson confirmed: “Vinny is fit and is there. He is flying, he is trying.

“There is just a couple ahead of him at the minute But we are going to need everyone as we have European games. if you want to play that way then I know what type of squad we are going to need.” The Dons have welcomed Angus MacDonald back to training along with new signing James McGarry today. Robson knows it will take the New Zealand international and Israeli Or Dadia time to get up to the speed of Scottish football.

Robson admitted: “Angus trains on Monday. It is his first day back on the training pitch, but he is going to need an intense couple of weeks to get him up to speed. Jonny (Hayes) will be six or seven days away. Dadia was on the bench and he needs to get up to speed. When you think of those three and McGarry who may take a bit of time.”

Robson still wants three of four more new signings. Celtic defender Liam Scales is amongst their top targets. They have their Europa League play-off first-leg next week, against BK Hacken or Zalgiris Vilnius, but Robson is prepared to wait for the right targets.
