Ugurcan Cakir 'monitored' by Celtic as wantaway goalkeeper on Joe Hart successor list

Celtic are reportedly keeping tabs on Ugurcan Cakir as they ramp up their search for Joe Hart's successor.

Parkhead No. 1 Hart announced last week that he would be retiring at the end of the season leaving Brendan Rodgers in dire need of a replacement for the new campaign. And reports in Turkey have suggested the Scottish Premiership champions have had scouts at recent Trabzonspor games to look closely at their 27-year-old captain Cakir. The goalkeeper has been with his current club for 12 years but is widely expected to move on this summer for a new challenge despite having three years left on his current contract.

He was named as the keeper with the highest save percentage in Europe two years ago and was linked last year with a move to Southampton, which fell through. The shot-stopper has previously been linked with a move to Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund and is expected to command a bumper price tag.

However, the the 26-time Turkey international is said to be unsettled at the club because they are languishing 26 points behind leaders Galatasaray in third place. And reports in Turkey suggest Celtic are looking at his situation as they hunt for a new goalkeeper.
