Kris Boyd can't resist Celtic pot shot at Brendan Rodgers as Rangers hero swaps cheerleader act for VAR troll
Rangers hero Kris Boyd caught many punters off guard when he offered a defence of Celtic amid a series of controversial calls in the defeat to Hearts.
However, he has quickly dropped the defence of the Scottish Premiership challenges after their Tynecastle slip-up as he took a veiled dig at Brendan Rodgers' post-match rant. Boyd admitted he was baffled by the penalty awarded against Celtic during an incident-packed game in Edinburgh - which saw penalties, a red card and offside goal in the blockbuster clash.
Jorge Grant put Steven Naismith's men on the road to victory as he converted his effort from 12-yards after Tomoki Iwata was penalised for handball following a VAR check. Alistair Johnston appeared to clash with his teammate while they looked to clear the danger - leading to the ball hitting the midfielder on his arm. The flashpoint saw referee Don Robertson told to review the incident by the VAR team - leading to the spot kick.
Parkhead boss Rodgers was left fuming at John Beaton in Clydesdale House - as he claimed the game had been decided by the off-field officials as he highlighted the Iwata handball and the red card issued to Yang. And while Boyd initially appeared sympathetic to the Hoops' plight there has been an abrupt change of tune.
Taking to social media after the game, the Rangers fan favourite appeared to take a swipe at Rodgers' debrief. Sharing an image of a VAR team working behind the scenes he caption the Instagram story: “Now it’s your fault.”
