Two Manchester United legends agree on Erik ten Hag's Marcus Rashford dilemma

Manchester United legends Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke agree that the Reds are too reliant on Marcus Rashford.

Rashford, 25, will hit the 30-goal mark across all competitions with a goal against Aston Villa at Old Trafford and match the tally Robin van Persie achieved in the 2012/13 title-winning season, the last time United lifted the Premier League crown.

While their reliance on Van Persie that season did not prove detrimental, Cole believes spreading goals around the team is more sustainable.

"One hundred per cent [United are too reliant on Rashford]," Cole told club media. "If you look at where the goals have been this season, I think it's very, very difficult to rely on one individual to get you all those goals.

"If you look at some of Manchester United's best teams, the goals have been shared around the team. That's what you need if you're going to try and hopefully win the title at some stage. So I think we've been over-reliant.

"We've missed him when he hasn't played because there haven't been too many players who have got themselves in that position, whereby they'll take those chances, you know, and hopefully that will change come next season."

Yorke agreed, adding: "There's a responsibility, and he has taken up that responsibility to be the main goal-getter. And I think that's a credit to his mentality in terms of what he's come through.

"He had a tough period last season himself, and to find himself on top of that, I think he should embrace it and enjoy it a lot more and realise that he has got all that talent and capabilities that we all expected of Rashford over the years.
