One dead and seven seriously injured after stabbing outside Bodmin club

A man is dead following a 'serious altercation' which involved a knife in a Cornwall town, with several others injured.

Police have now confirmed that one man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was killed in Bodmin, with seven other people were injured. It was reported that someone in the area had been in possession of a knife and that some people had sustained stab wounds.

Police were called at 3:15am on Sunday, April 30 to Victoria Square on Castle Canyke Road to a report of a serious altercation. It was suspected that someone had been in possession of a knife outside a night club, Cornwall Live reports.

A man in his 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

At least seven other people have been injured and taken to hospital. None of these injuries are currently believed to be life-threatening.

A 24-year-old man from Bodmin has been arrested on suspicion of murder, as well as attempted murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody at this time.

Detective Inspector Ilona Rosson from the Major Crime Investigation Team at Devon & Cornwall Police said: "Following an incident in Bodmin last night, a man in his 30s has been confirmed deceased and officers are supporting his next of kin.

"At this time we are treating this as an isolated matter and we are not seeking anyone else in connection to this incident.

"This is a live and active police investigation, and I would urge people not to speculate on social media but if you have information which may assist us, please report it."
