Two Man United transfer 'targets' are 'not happy' with Ruben Amorim as alternative 'considered'

Manchester United agreeing to appoint Ruben Amorim as their replacement for Erik ten Hag means attention inevitably turns to transfers.

Business in the market defined the Dutchman perhaps more than predecessors due to the sheer number of former Ajax players recruited under his management. It appears unlikely that many Sporting players will arrive under Amorim, but it would be bold to assume that none will.

However, if reports in Portugal are correct, the young coach could be burning bridges with his seemingly soon-to-be former players. Amorim has already had to apologise to them earlier this year after having talks with West Ham United during last season and now looks set to leave them mere months later, midway through the current campaign.

The Portuguese newspaper O Jogo claims that the news did not go down well with the squad, and several players questioned Amorim about the decision. The outlet now claims that Viktor Gyokeres and Morten Hjulmand are unhappy with him after staying in Lisbon to continue working under Amorim after being "enticed" by his project at the club.

Both players have already been linked with moves to Manchester United following the news that Amorim is due to take over at Old Trafford.

MEN says: United were linked with Gyokeres and Hjulmand in the summer and, inevitably, over recent days as part of the speculation surrounding Amorim. Their working relationship with the coach should still stand the club in good stead if they act on any interest next year, as the chance to join United should outweigh any bitterness
