How Manchester United could look next season with three major Ruben Amorim signings
Ruben Amorim could shake up the status quo at Manchester United given his track record at Sporting CP.
Amorim has diverted from his 3-4-3 formation just 18 times in his 228 matches in charge of Sporting, having also used the tactic at former club SC Braga. It therefore seems very likely he will implement the same system at United.
As such, he may wish to bring in signings who are familiar with his role, or at least have the capacity to fit into his philosophy. Recent reports have linked United with a possible pursuit of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies, who is out of contract this summer.

Erik ten Hag used Diogo Dalot at left-back amid ongoing setbacks to Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw, who has just hit another hurdle in his recovery. Davies has played as a wing-back or left winger 66 times in his 306 career senior matches, more than a fifth of his outings.
He could be joined by Sporting centre-back Goncalo Inacio, who is gathering a lot of interest from clubs around Europe. The defender had been loosely linked with United over the summer, as well as Liverpool.
The 23-year-old has been a staple of Amorim’s Sporting side and has picked up 12 caps for Portugal since making his senior debut under the incoming United manager. Before Ten Hag’s sacking, United were looking at bringing in a defender next year anyway.
Jonny Evans has played brilliantly since his return in the summer of 2023 but it is unclear what view Amorim will take on the 36-year-old. Inacio is part of Sporting back-three that contains teammates under the age of 23 and Amorim could employ
