Tottenham: Latest update on Harry Kane's Spurs future

Tottenham striker Harry Kane can live with another year without winning a trophy, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Kane is yet to win silverware in his career, which has led to serious doubts over his future at his boyhood club.

While Kane is enjoying a fine run in front of goal, scoring 12 goals in his last 18 games across all competitions, which has seen him reach the 20-mark for the ninth season in succession.

However, Spurs’ FA Cup exit to Middlesbrough earlier this month means that the England captain’s long wait to win a major trophy will at least head into next season.

Kane did respond impressively to that defeat at the Riverside Stadium, scoring twice in the 5-0 victory over Everton on Monday to keep up the pressure on Arsenal and Manchester United in the fight for the top four.

But with Tottenham’s trophy drought heading into a 15th campaign, there’s likely to be further speculation surrounding Kane’s position at the club.

Following the defeat at Boro, reports emerged that he was ‘50-50‘ on whether to force a move away from North London following his transfer saga with Manchester City last summer.

But with Kane turning 29 in July, Jones reckons that the Tottenham striker should be in no rush to leave the club.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “There’s still plenty of time for Harry Kane to win trophies, he doesn’t need it in the next year, he’s waited this long.”

Regardless of whether Tottenham qualify for the Champions League or not, the intense speculation isn’t likely to go away.
