Topi Keskinen on brink of Aberdeen FC transfer as Jimmy Thelin closes in on Finnish winger

Aberdeen are are closing in on HJK Helsinki winger Topi Keskinen.

The 21-year-old – who played against the Dons in the Europa Conference League last season – has one year left on his contract at his club and has been linked with moves to English Championship outfits Middlesbrough and Sunderland this summer and Blackburn Rovers reportedly had a bid of just shy of £1million knocked back.

New Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin is set to lose talisman Bojan Miovski to Spanish La Liga shock troops Girona and will have cash to splash to bolster his attacking options. Keskinen, capped eight times at Under-21 level for Finland, notched scored six goals in 16 appearances in the Finnish top-flight this year. With the Finnish season playing through the summer, Keskinen is currently in full flow in the Veikkausliiga with the capital side and would be be fully fit and firing if Thelin can land his man.

With the winger currently embroiled in a title battle with KuPS and SJK at the top of the table, the last thing they will want to do is part ways with one of their main attacking threats but the lure of a move to the Scottish Premiership could prove too strong.

Aberdeen signed Ante Palaversa on Thursday and he became the club's fifth summer signing and now they could be able to take that recruitment to number six ahead of their first home league game of the season against St Mirren on Sunday.
