Todd Cantwell addresses Celtic social media storm after 'didn't win' verdict as he laps up Rangers cauldron

Midfielder Todd Cantwell has played down a social media comment that resulted in a backlash following Rangers' 3-2 defeat to Celtic earlier this month.

Cantwell joined Rangers from Norwich on a long-term contract in January and has been one of the stand-out performers of Michael Beale's time in charge at Ibrox, but alongside impressive showings he has been vocal online during his time at the club. The playmaker attracted attention following the loss to Ange Postecoglou's side at Parkhead when he claimed Celtic “didn’t win” the Old Firm derby but instead Rangers "lost" it.

He continued to have his say social media when he took to Twitter in now-deleted tweets in an attempt to explain his departure from Norwich when he claimed the Carrow Road fans "never had the truth" about his decision to walk away from the club where he came through the youth ranks. Ahead of the clash with Aberdeen, Cantwell was quizzed on his used of social media and insisted he was loving the "responsibility" of life at Ibrox.

He was put on the spot about his comments on Celtic, responding: "Social media is an interesting place, you don't say anything you are hiding and if you do people will then pull it apart. It doesn't bother me. I'm really enjoying myself here and enjoy the responsibility that is on my shoulder at this club."
