'They don't think' - Pep Guardiola launches furious seven minute rant amid Man City fixture farce

Pep Guardiola has pleaded with football's governing bodies and the TV companies to rethink their schedule after he slammed the decision to hand Manchester City a Saturday date on FA Cup semi-final weekend.

The Blues will play a Champions League quarter-final second leg on a Wednesday night, followed by a Saturday FA Cup semi-final at Wembley for the fourth season in a row, leaving Guardiola furious with the scheduling when the three other semi-finalists have a midweek without a game.

This time City play Real Madrid at the Etihad on Wednesday, April 17, before facing Chelsea at Wembley at 5.15pm on Saturday, April 20, but in the three previous seasons they have had away games in Dortmund, Madrid and Munich on Wednesday night, before cup semi-finals against Chelsea, Liverpool and Sheffield United the following Saturday.

Guardiola's side were beaten by Chelsea and Liverpool but took advantage of a kinder draw to get past the Blades on the way to the treble last season. But the City boss is stunned at the decision to again force his team to play twice in four days at such a crucial juncture of the season.

"We play Wednesday against Madrid in the second leg here so we could play Saturday or Sunday in the FA Cup. Coventry, United, Chelsea, they are on holidays for one week. Why are we playing Saturday? Every year we play Saturday," said Guardiola.

"Why don’t they give us one more day when Coventry, Chelsea, United they don’t play [in the] Champions League or Europa League? Why don’t we play on Sunday?
