The Greater Manchester arcade that’s among UK’s best you must visit this half term

There’s still a few more days left of half term to enjoy, and if you’re stuck for ideas on where to take the kids then help is at hand, as we might have something for you. You may not know it but Greater Manchester is in fact home to one of the UK’s best arcades.

Arcade Club Bury was ranked number two in the list of the UK’s top 10. The list was topped by Arcade Club Leeds, but Bury managed to grab second place.

The club features hundreds of retro and modern machines for gamers to play, so it’s a brilliant place to take the kids over half term. There’s everything you could imagine, from pinball machines to the iconic Space Invaders game. Plus it has the added benefit of being inside, meaning it's ideal if the weather changes.

Various factors were examined to work out the final rankings and researchers looked at everything from time spent in the arcades, to Google reviews and even distance from public transport when compiling the list. Arcade Club Bury has an average time of 3.25 hours spent in the arcade, and more than 12,000 monthly searches on Google, where it has a review score of 4.8 out of five.

But that’s not the only reason to visit Arcade Club Bury - it even has a Hollywood connection. Two of its machines were used in the newly released Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire movie, which stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace. Earlier this year the club, which is based over four floors in Ela Mill, was chosen as a major filming location for Netflix's number one show Fool Me Once, starring Michelle Keegan.

Arcade Club Bury opens 4pm to 11pm on Thursday, 6pm to midnight on Friday (adults only after 6pm),
