The 33 Greater Manchester general election candidates who don't actually live here

There are 186 candidates standing to be an MP in Greater Manchester. But some of them don't live in the city-region.

The candidates standing at the general election next month were confirmed on Friday (June 7). Anyone over the age of 18 can stand for Parliament as long as they are citizens and do not work in certain professions such as in the police, in the army or as civil servants.

Candidates are not required to live in the constituency they are standing in. However, they must declare their home address.

There are 27 seats up for grabs in Greater Manchester with several candidates contesting each constituency. In total, 33 candidates standing in Greater Manchester are not listed as living in the city-region.

In some cases, candidates live closeby to the constituency they are contesting, such as in Rossendale, St Helens or Warrington. However, several candidates standing in the city-region - mostly for the Conservative Party - are registered as living in London.

Most of the candidates standing to be the MP for Blackley and Middleton South do not live in Greater Manchester. There are also three candidates from outside the city-region who are standing in the Makerfield and in Stalybridge and Hyde constituencies.
