The big Rangers questions answered as Fashion Sakala transfer a no-brainer but departure would leave one big issue

The new season is ready to kick off – and the Record Rangers podcast is back with a bang. Michael Beale has had a busy summer with eight new signings which is soon to become nine with the imminent arrival of Jose Cifuentes.

Fans will get the first glimpse of some of them in competitive action when the Ibrox side travel to Kilmarnock for Saturday’s Scottish Premiership opener. But there are big issues for Michael Beale ahead of the trip to Ayrshire, with defensive frailties exposed in the 2-2 pre-season friendly draw against Hoffenheim.

There is the left back dilemma with neither Borna Barisic of Ridvan Yilmaz filling fans with confidence. And what about Fashion Sakala? He was left out of the trip to Germany with Saudi Pro League side Al-Fayha refusing to give up in a £3 million move for the Zambian. Andy: If that’s the sort of level of cash then Rangers should be biting their hand off. He’s a bit of a conundrum. He gets numbers and makes an impact but he’s so temperamental at times that it must drive Michael Beale demented. If you are going to play for Rangers you have to be able to handle the pressure moments and in the two big pressure moments last season that he was presented with that could have turned Rangers season around he failed to take both. He’s handy to have around but that’s too generous an offer for someone who’s going to play half a dozen games.
