Tete shows Celtic transfer is costly venture as Fenerbahce pull plug after legal concerns and finance 'evaluation'

Fenerbahce have publicly confirmed they will NOT be pursuing Tete after evaluating three parameters around a deal for the winger in an eye-opening statement amid Celtic rumours.

The Brazilian worked with Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City and is currently a free agent after leaving Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk. Rumours have suggested that Celtic are one of the clubs interested in snapping him up but the Turkish giants have shown the Premiership champions any deal will cost a pretty penny.

Clubs usually go hush-hush on transfer rumours but Fenerbahce have addressed their fans after talk that Turkey would be Tete's destination intensified. And they have confirmed that three factors mean they won't be going after Hoops boss Rodgers' former winger. They said: "Recently, it has become obligatory to inform the public about the football player Tete (Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins) mentioned with our club. The football player and his team recently visited Turkey.

"The player mentioned during this visit was recommended to our club by his managers. Our club has questioned the conditions regarding the possible transfer possibility. But as a result of the legal, financial and technical evaluations, we have come to the conclusion that the transfer of the player is not suitable for us. We present it to the public."
