Stuart Kettlewell holds Rangers penalty gripe as Motherwell boss irked after Cyriel Dessers 'hauled' star to the deck
Stuart Kettlewell has been left irked over a penalty he feels Motherwell should have received against Rangers.
The Steelmen were left with a mountain to climb inside the opening quarter through goals by Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell. It finished 2-0 to Philippe Clement's visitors but there were penalty shouts from the hosts - who failed to have a shot on target - after half-time. Brodie Spencer went down under a Ridvan Yilmaz tackle but nothing was given.
Speaking to Sky Sports, 'Well boss Kettlewell was annoyed by a shirt pull he believes Cyriel Dessers committed on Mika Biereth, and wonders if that could have been a game-changing moment. He said: "Little bit irked seeing one or two of the decisions back. There is a couple of penalty calls from our side of things. There is one on Mika Biereth that I have seen back from footage that we have.
"I think it is a bit of a stramash at the back post. Mika Biereth looks for all the world he is going to get the next contact on the ball with a free shot at goal and quite clearly his arm is pulled and he is hauled to the ground.
"I am seeing these given on a weekly basis. That might have been the opportunity for us from the penalty spot to get back into the game.
"But I am not making excuses for it, it is just you would love one or two of these things to fall for you and they absolutely don't. I watch highlights programmes every week and I see them given every single week."
