The 6 Rangers stick or twist contract dilemmas facing Philippe Clement over stars in final months of deals

It's that time of the year once again when clubs face a number of key decisions over transfers and personnel.

And that is no different at Rangers as Philippe Clement bids to start putting his own stamp on the squad he inherited from Michael Beale after taking over the top gig at Ibrox. The Belgian has already moved to bring Fabio Silva on board from Wolves on loan with a number of other January arrivals expected with left-back a priority position for the Light Blues.

But it is not only key decisions over potential new faces to help his squad in their hunt for silverware that needs addressed. Fringe men or those out of favour could be made available for transfer while a number of players in the ranks are out of contract come the summer. A similar stick of twist scenario faced Rangers last year when they opted against fresh terms for Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield and Filip Helander with veteran goalkeeper and club legend Allan McGregor deciding to hang up his gloves. Fast forward six months and the talk over either putting new terms offers on the table or cutting ties begins. It is not only those under permanent contracts at the club but also loan signings up for discussion and if they've done enough to merit the club looking to try and strike a deal with parent clubs for next season and beyond.

On the temporary front Abdallah Sima has been a huge hit for Rangers so far this season. He's now off to AFCON to represent Senegal but after a contribution of 15 goals and two assists from 33 outings in all competitions this season, Clement has already stated he is planning talks with the Brighton loanee to convince him to stay north of the border permanently.
