Philippe Clement teases Rangers transfer business as boss makes rapid recruitment demand to board

Philippe Clement stated plans are being made behind the scenes to make swift January transfer moves after a 2-0 Rangers win over Motherwell

A devastating opening first 16 minuets had Kieran Dowell and Todd Cantwell firing the Light Blues into a comfortable lead that never looked likely to be touched. They could have made it more had it not been for heroics in the 'Well net by Liam Kelly and a second 45 rally from the Steelmen ultimately struggled to cause Jack Butland much harm.

Rangers are now two points behind Celtic with next weekend's clash at Parkhead looming while Motherwell's dire winless run extends to 15 games, with the club mired in 11th. Clement, speaking to Sportsound, fielded questions on his transfer plans amid an injury crisis impacting players like John Lundstram, Danilo, Jose Cifuentes and more. But the Belgian played his cards close to his chest. He said: "Are we close, are we far? You are that close when a signing is made, when the signature is there. Before that you are never close in this world. I have seen enough in my career. We will see next couple of days, next couple of weeks, what will happen.

"We have the same ideas me and the board about what to do. I know everybody is working really hard to make to happen as fast as possible. So we will see."

He added on the game: "It's important to have a win in these circumstances. Not ideal to play our normal football but you need to fight, struggle, and the players did. A well deserved victory and a clean sheet.

"I wanted to kill off the game and get the third goal, and after that the fourth goal. You don't score the third and it became difficult to control thee ball because of the circumstances and the weather. Two really good goals. Second half
