Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden makes emotional promise after friend dies as Gemma Atkinson also pays tribute

Amy Dowden has made an emotional promoise as she paid tribute to a friend who has died from cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing star had recieved support from influencer Nicky Newman following her own cancer diagnosis earlier this year.

Cancer campaigner Nicky was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, which had also spread to her bones, five and a half years ago. Amy, 33, who has been documenting her own cancer journey after being diagnosis with stage three breast cancer, shared her friend’s farewell post with a promise to the social media star.

Nicky, better known as NickNackLou on social media, had penned her message to followers to be used on her page in the event of her death. "If you’re reading this it means I have died," the message began. She also made a final request of her 280k Instagram followers as she said: "So please promise me to cherish those around you and give your friends and loved ones the biggest squeezes! GO GRAB LIFE! You never truly know what is coming around the corner - so don’t take anything for granted."

Resharing the post to her onw Instagram Story, Amy thanked her late friend for being a true inspiration. "The most beautiful ray of sunshine who has done so much and created a community and legacy that will live on," Amy typed. "I hope you know all the help and awareness you have done and will always continue to do so. I remember when I found out I needed a port, your page I turned to."
