Strictly Come Dancing fans ‘can’t believe’ treatment of ex-judge as she shares make-up free snap

Strictly Come Dancing fans were left shocked after former Judge Dame Arlene Philips, 80, told them she had ‘no patience’ after being forced to sit on the floor of a train. The choreographer and ex-dancer posted a selfie on Instagram sharing her predicament on Sunday, the day after the BBC One series returned for its first live show.

The snap showed Arlene not looking very impressed, sat on the floor of the train, make-up free and wearing a brown teddy-style coat. She captioned the photo: “Spending Sunday sitting on the floor of a packed train.

“Looking around there were two choices. Stand in the packed corridors, or the one I chose. The face of a dame with no makeup and no patience left!”

Fans were quick to flood the post with comments, saying that they ‘couldn’t believe’ no one had offered the 80-year-old a seat. Megan_dance.xox wrote: “Can’t believe no-one has offered you seat! That’s what I’ve been taught.”

Sophiemrobyn added: “Absolutely not! Did no one offer a seat to Dame Arlene?!? If not, the worlds officially gone to pot.” Alanastewartmama said: “Can’t believe no one let you sit down it’s disgraceful” and Skasa64 wrote: “Can’t believe you have to sit on the floor!”

Arlene was a judge on Strictly Come Dancing between 2004 and 2008, appearing on the panel alongside Len Goodman, Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli. Arlene was replaced by Alesha Dixon for the 2009 series. She also judged a spin-off series Strictly Dance Fever and another BBC dance series, DanceX.
