Stirling Albion boss believes more to come from side after Edinburgh win breaks losing streak

It was a welcome return to winning ways for Stirling Albion on Saturday as they made it three wins from three this season against League One bottom dogs Edinburgh City.

A slow start to the game was broken by Paul McLean's scrambled finish on the half hour, before the Binos broke away with a trio of second half strikes from McLean again, a debut goal for Josh McPake and Dale Hilson.

The result pulls Stirling seven clear of ninth-placed Annan once again - with the Binos having the opportunity to stretch that gap with their game in hand against under pressure Hamilton Accies at Forthbank tonight (Tuesday).

The Edinburgh City victory came off the back of a poor run of three defeats in the league for the Binos after a good start to 2024 - and it's one that could provide important as they navigate matches against the division's three full-time outfits in their next three games.

Stirling Albion boss Darren Young said he was delighted by the result and clean sheet - but believed they could improve on their performance levels.

Young said: "I'm happy with the goals and the result, but I felt we could do better at the start of the game.

"We've got to pass the ball a little bit better, possibly there was a little bit of nerves with the way things have been going into the game but once we got the goal, I think it settled us down a bit.

"The turning point in the game was the sending off as well, we were coming into the game a little before that and we eventually managed to show how good we can be.

"I'm delighted for Josh to come in and get his goal straight away and also for Dale Hilson to score as well, it's been a long time coming."
