Spanish and Portuguese media react to 'luxurious' Philippe Coutinho performance for Aston Villa

Aston Villa loanee Philippe Coutinho grabbed the headlines for his sensational performance against Leeds United on Wednesday night.

The Brazil international scored one and assisted two more goals against Marcelo Bielsa's side, with Jacob Ramsey combining with him to devastating effect in the first half.

Coutinho has played three games for Villa so far, since arriving on loan from Barcelona in January, and is averaging a goal contribution every 43.5 minutes under Steven Gerrard.

After his latest showing in a Villa shirt when he played an instrumental part of Villa's attacking prowess in the 3-3 draw against Leeds, Spanish and Brazilian media (translated) have been analysing his performance.

"A goal from Spaniard Diego Llorente nullified Philippe Coutinho's display, who scored a goal and provided an assist, in the 3-3 tie between Aston Villa and Leeds United.

"The Spanish centre-back completed the comeback for Marcelo Bielsa's men, who went 3-1 down and ended up taking a valuable point from Villa Park.

"Coutinho did some wonderful 15 minutes before going into half-time."

"One of the most exciting games of the Premier League season was seen at Villa Park on Wednesday night, as Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa drew 3-3 against Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United.

"Half an hour in, Villa grabbed an equaliser through Philippe Coutinho. The Brazilian received the ball inside the area, swivelled and then fired into the far corner to draw things level.

"It was then the turn of Villa prodigy Jacob Ramsey to show what he can do, as he scored two goals in the space of five first-half minutes.

"First, an excellent pass from Coutinho put him through one-on-one with Illan Meslier and he kept his composure to finish past the Leeds goalkeeper.
