Barcelona fans agree after Aston Villa's Philippe Coutinho makes surprise Liverpool revelation

Aston Villa ace Philippe Coutinho has seemingly drawn a line under his time at Barcelona after admitting it was his 'dream' to play for the Catalan club.

The Brazil international is on loan from Barcelona until the end of the season having completed a move to Villa Park in January.

Steven Gerrard convinced Coutinho to follow him to Villa and revive his career in the Midlands after his £142million switch to Barca four years ago didn't work out.

Coutinho is out of contract at the end of next season and was heavily linked with a return to Liverpool as well as a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal before signing for Villa.

"At certain times we have to make decisions and one of my big dreams was to play for Barcelona," Coutinho told media outlet ESPN.

"At that moment I decided to make that decision, but always with great affection, respect and gratitude for Liverpool and for the friendships over the years I've been in the club.

"But at that moment I had a decision to make and I don't regret it."

Villa reportedly have a £33million option to buy Coutinho permanently at the end of the season.
