Dover Athletic boss Jake Leberl on preparing to come up against former team-mate Chris Moore in FA Cup third qualifying round at lower-league Hanwell Town

Dover manager Jake Leberl will come up against a side led by a former team-mate this Saturday.

Leberl’s in-form National League South Whites will look to avoid an FA Cup upset as they visit early-season Southern League Premier Division South strugglers Hanwell Town in the third qualifying round.

Hanwell are led by Chris Moore, who had been their joint-boss alongside Wayne Carter from 2018 until 2022 before the latter left Moore in sole charge, having just helped them to promotion from Isthmian South Central through the play-offs.

A striker in his playing days, Moore, 46, played alongside Leberl at Dagenham & Redbridge.

Whites’ boss also has spoken to Burgess Hill’s ex-Dover player Luca Cocoracchio, knocked out of the FA Cup by Hanwell, as part of his homework on the Geordies.

On what he had found out about them, Leberl replied: “An ex-team-mate of mine is their manager.

“I was with him at Dagenham. He's been there for a while and got them promoted.

“I’ve spoken to Luca because they beat Burgess Hill in the last round.

“Ultimately, it’s going to be about mentality and mindset, and how we start the game.”

Club sponsors Newsteam are offering free coach travel to Hanwell from Crabble - a move that a large number of fans have already signed up for - in a decision which Leberl has praised.

He said: “It’s a really good idea.

“Obviously, the away fans have always been brilliant. We have had some good journeys - and great memories - together.

“I think it’s a really good idea from the club and is something that will really help us.”

Whites continued their fine form as last weekend’s 2-0 win over AFC Totton made it four successive victories.
