Snodland Town player-boss Connor Dymond wants his squad to reset as they return to league action.

Town enjoyed a memorable FA Cup run, reaching the second qualifying round in only their fourth season in the competition before narrowly losing at home to Sheppey United last Saturday.

Dymond’s men deserved a replay for their efforts but instead resume their Southern Counties East Premier Division campaign at Bearsted tonight (Tuesday).

“I think we've probably over-achieved,” reflected Dymond. “To get so much straight away.

“I'll say it again, that was the 11th game for a brand-new squad that we've had to put together, basically.

“So, we've set the standard. I said I just want the boys to go back to the start.

“You've just got to go back and get that hunger.

“Bearsted are a good side. They've always been good every year.

“But we'll do our preparation and be ready for the game, so it'll be good.”

Dymond reckons the FA Cup run has given a glimpse of the potential at Snodland.

“I’m so proud,” he added. “I said to the boys after the game, if we were given that at the start of the season, would we have taken it? You'd probably go, yes, 100 per cent.

“The fans have been incredible. It was a really good game to play in but Saturday was really for them, and we just couldn't give them the day they wanted.

“It's a pretty new club in terms of football. But they've been magnificent and they work ever so hard, so they fully deserve it.

“It’s been absolutely crazy. Hopefully, we'll have another run next year.

“Things can happen in the FA Cup and that's the beauty of it.”

On the defeat to Sheppey, Dymond admitted it was a cruel way for his team to bow out.
