Simone Inzaghi has already responded to Manchester United manager links

Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi has already spoken about his future amid suggestions he is a candidate for Manchester United.

The 47-year-old has recently been touted as a possible successor to Erik ten Hag at United. The Reds face an uphill battle to get into the Champions League spots, seemingly relying on other English sides to ensure that finishing fifth that would allow United to qualify for Europe’s premier club competition.

Ten Hag’s side are still in the FA Cup and winning the famous trophy would be more prestigious than last season’s Carabao Cup triumph. However, the structural changes that have occurred since Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s purchase of a minority stake at United have led to the feeling that Ten Hag is under growing pressure to succeed.

The Manchester Evening News recently reported that Ratcliffe is not 100 per cent sold on keeping Ten Hag beyond the end of this season. Inzaghi is considered to be one of the favourites for the United job among bookmakers, currently ranking second behind Graham Potter. Last term, his Inter side retained the Coppa Italia and reached the Champions League final.

Despite losing several key players in the summer, Inzaghi’s side currently have a 15-point lead at the top of Serie A and remain in the Champions League, winning the first leg of their tie with Atletico Madrid. Inzaghi signed a contract until 2025 as recently as September but was asked about his future last week.
