Simon Jordan tips Brendan Rodgers to manage Leicester City rivals with 'stepping stone' comment

Former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has tipped Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers to manage a club like Arsenal in the future.

When discussing what the future could hold for Rodgers, Jordan named Arsenal as the type of club Rodgers could move on to in the future, though he does not think it will happen in the near future. There are question marks, he said, over whether Leicester have reached their ceiling or if Rodgers can take them back to the heights of 2015-16.

He spoke highly of both Rodgers and Leicester City, calling manager and club "first-class" - though says he can see Rodgers "stepping up" to another club "somewhere down the line".

"I am an admirer of Brendan Rodgers. Not everything he does, but the bulk of it," Jordan told talkSPORT. "I watched his career develop from coming out of Chelsea and going to Watford and Reading, not particularly hitting his straps there, but then landing in Swansea and building a side out from there.

"He has been at big clubs. He's been at Liverpool and Celtic. Celtic might be in a two-horse race in Scotland but they still have huge expectations and the achievements under Brendan were pretty monumental.

"Leicester... he's won them an FA Cup. Leicester was a stepping stone back into the Premier League for Brendan. I can see Brendan stepping up and stepping on - if that doesn't sound too disrespectful to Leicester. I can see Brendan managing an Arsenal, if you consider Arsenal in the same light you once did before. I think he's a very good manager, I think he's a very good communicator.
