French Grand Prix: Sebastian Vettel 'pleased' as Mick Schumacher hits decent form

Sebastian Vettel said that he is pleased that Mick Schumacher is finding some form in Formula 1, with the Haas driver scoring points in the last two races.

Schumacher had gone a long time in Formula 1 before scoring his first points, but in Silverstone the wait finally came to an end as he drove a fine race at the British Grand Prix to seal eighth place.

He then doubled up on the points finishes as he secured sixth at the Austrian Grand Prix last time out, and it is clear that he is really starting to thrive in the VF-22 as we enter the second half of the campaign.

He’ll be looking to score more points this weekend in France, then, as the F1 circus heads to Paul Ricard – potentially for the last time for the foreseeable future – and Sebastian Vettel has revealed how pleased he is seeing Mick shine.

Speaking in the press conference on Thursday here at Paul Ricard, Seb said:

“I’m very, very happy for Mick because, you know, I think he had a, maybe an unlucky start to the season and then, you know, it takes only a couple of races and then you get a lot of criticism and I don’t think it was justified.

“I know how much effort he’s putting in and how hard he is working. So I think Mick is on the right track. And it’s great to see that he had the results that he deserved. So I’m very, very happy. And I hope for him that, you know, the car will continue to be strong enough for him to show what he’s capable of.”

It’s certainly been nice to see Mick use the pressure he was coming under from some to spur him on, with him driving arguably the best he has ever done in his F1 career right now.

He’ll be eager to keep the points scoring run going this weekend, then, at a searing hot Paul Ricard.
