Scott Arfield sends Rangers a parting message as 'extremely flattered' star reacts to Ibrox exit announcement

Scott Arfield has shared his appreciation for the love and support he has received following news he will be leaving Rangers this summer.

Michael Beale admitted it was a transfer decision that pulled 'on the heart strings' but ultimately it was decided the experienced midfielder would move on when his contract expires ahead of next season. He has spent five years in Govan and helped the club to Premiership glory in 2021 and the Scottish Cup a year later, while also playing his part in the run to 2022's Europa League final.

Taking to social media ahead of tonight's Ibrox farewell against Hearts, the former Canadian international said 'Thank you for all the messages and love after the news yesterday team, extremely flattered and it is very much appreciated.' Beale said on Tuesday: "Arfield pulls on the heart strings big time, as a man and as a person has been fantastic around the place, adored by the fans.

"A real amicable conversation ongoing over the last couple of months, around playing time, players coming in and what Scott needs moving forward. A difficult decision but the best one for all parties."

Alfredo Morelos, Filip Helander, Ryan Kent and Allan McGregor are also on the move. Their contracts won't be renewed at the end of the season.
