David McCarthy: They must choose someone who makes the change from Ange as seamless as possible. In other words, someone with a similar philosophy to get the most out of the squad he’ll inherit. Enzo Maresca seems the best fit as Man City are half decent!
Craig Swan: Continuity is important. Without baggage, Brendan Rodgers would be perfect. If not him, there are a host of good candidates such as Graham Potter, who displayed style and sense at Brighton.
Fraser Wilson: The squad and style the new boss is about to inherit has been so successful it would be foolish to go down a different route so an attack-minded coach is paramount with a good record in the transfer market. Graham Potter would be my first choice but could he be enticed?
David McCarthy: It just applies a different sort of pressure to Michael Beale. Beating Postecoglou would have been a major challenge but now the feeling will be that he is up against a new manager who might take time to settle in, and that ups the ante.
Craig Swan: It doesn’t. The momentum only shifts if Rangers improve and Celtic regress. No one can say if both or even one of those things will happen.
