Sam Allardyce tips Rangers manager wink and a nod as he labels Ibrox chance a huge 'honour'

Sam Allardyce says he would be honoured if Rangers asked him to become their manager.

Michael Beale has been sacked by the Ibrox board and now the rumour mill is rife with who could come in as his replacement. Kevin Muscat is a man taking up plenty of airtime on the phone-ins and Frank Lampard is said to be open to talks, although he wants some assurances before diving into Light Blues commitment like former England teammate Steven Gerrard did in 2018.

Allardyce has vast management experience but his last job at Leeds United saw him appointed at the 11th hour of last term, and was ultimately unable to save them from the drop. He's also managed at Newcastle United and West Ham United plus many others across England's Premier League and lower leagues, with chats with Ibrox legends have left him in no doubt. He told Tippy Tappy Football: "If they came and asked me and talked to me, it would be an honour at Rangers.

“Speaking to Alex McLeish and Fergie about it, it’s an unbelievable football club. Not that I am actively promoting myself for the job, but clearly it has not gone (well for Michael Beale). He's only been in the job two minutes."
