Roman Reigns: Spoiler on next challenger for Undisputed WWE Universal title

WWE have lined-up Roman Reigns’ next challenger, who he’s expected to defend his WWE Universal Championship against at next month’s Money in the Bank event.

Reigns wasn’t part of last night’s Hell in a Cell premium live show, which was main evented by Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollin’s Hell in a Cell match but is now expected to defend his WWE Universal Championships at Money in the Bank on 2nd July.

Rumours had stated last month that Roman’s next challenger would be Riddle, in a story that would also see Reigns take on the other half of RK-Bro, Randy Orton at SummerSlam.

However, with Orton currently side-lined and Riddle now focussed on the other members of The Bloodline, the Tribal Chief’s next challenger could be Bobby Lashley.

Lashley faced off against MVP and Omos in a handicap match at Hell in a Cell, and after he had defeated the paring – thanks to an assist from Cedric Alexandar – The All Mighty celebrated by making gesture round his waist to signal his championship intent.

The 45-year-old then made his message even clearer, by grabbing a fans replica WWE Championship belt and celebrating with the title at ringside. Making his intentions known that he’s after the world title and has Roman Reigns in his sights.

On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that a Reigns vs. Lashley match is likely for Money in the Bank, while Bobby also declared his interest in getting back into the title picture when he appeared on WWE’s The Bump last month.

Lashley is already a two-time WWE Champion, and last held the belt in October 2021 before he was defeated thanks to Big E’s Money in the Bank cash-in.

Since defeating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania in April, Reigns is yet to defend his WWE Universal
