Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes say same thing about Rasmus Hojlund at Manchester United

Both Rio Ferdinand and Paul Scholes believe that striker Rasmus Hojlund has the necessary credentials to succeed at Manchester United.

The 20-year-old, who made his Champions League debut in United's clash with Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening, joined the club from Atalanta last month. The Reds added him to their ranks after agreeing a deal worth £72million with the Italian outfit.

Hojlund joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz in August 2022 and enjoyed a relatively successful one-and-only season in Italy, scoring 10 goals and grabbing four assists in all competitions. However, he is yet to prove himself as a seasoned goalscorer who is capable of scoring 20 or 30 goals a season.

Despite that, the Dane possesses a wide range of qualities, such as pace and athleticism, that could serve United well. And for Ferdinand, the youngster has an array of qualities that most managers would relish the opportunity to benefit from.

"Man United need a goalscorer," Ferdinand told TNT Sports. "But as Scholesy [Scholes] spoke about earlier, his record doesn't suggest that he scores loads of goals. I think he is a development case, someone who you want to develop and build.

"He has got attributes that if you're a coach or a manager, you are looking at him and going, 'You know what, I would love to work with those attributes'. He has got great physique, he's quick, he's aggressive, he's strong and from what I hear, he wants to learn.

"He has all the things that you would want. He can run from the halfway line and shrug defenders off."
