Residents without water as engineers rush to fix burst in Trafford

A number of residents are thought to be without water this morning as engineers work to fix a burst in Trafford.

Residents with M16, M17 and M32 postcodes are without water or with low water pressure following the burst on Mosley Road in Trafford Park, Stretford. The incident was first reported just after 5am this morning (July 31).

Traffic management measures are in the process of being put in place around the site in order to allow engineers to fix the burst. United Utilities said they expect engineers to start the repair work as quickly as possible and apologised to residents for the inconvenience.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: “A burst water main on Mosley Road is unfortunately causing poor pressure or no water for some customers in the area. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience.

“Traffic management will be put in place to allow our team to carry out the repair safely, and we thank people for their patience during the work.”

Guidance on the United Utilities website said that engineers will need to dig down to fix and access the underground water network affected. In a recent update, it said: “We need to put traffic management in place before we can get started. It’s our top priority to restore supplies, but we need to ensure we can keep everyone safe in the process.”
