'Really impressive guy' - Manchester United's former secret weapon opens up on exit and Erik ten Hag

Former Manchester United coach Eric Ramsay has described Erik ten Hag as 'really impressive' but has no regrets over taking his first job in management with Minnesota.

Ramsay was appointed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the summer of 2021. The young coach was brought to United to 'work one-on-one with individual players' and 'take ownership over training on the side's set-plays' but gradually took on more responsibility at Carrington.

Erik ten Hag retained Ramsay after he arrived from Ajax and the Welshman graduated to become a first-team coach, which saw him oversee the bulk of first-team training sessions.

The MEN were the first to provide insight into Ramsay's role and to reveal that he'd helped players such as Casemiro settle, as he can speak fluent Spanish and French.

Ramsay was a key part of Ten Hag's backroom staff and turned down offers to move into management, but he felt the opportunity to coach Minnesota couldn't be rejected and was given permission to move to the United States during last season in February.

Ramsay oversaw Minnesota's best-ever start to a league season, although he was recently challenged by a tough period of results.

Ramsay has spoken to The Daily Mail to reflect on his time in Manchester and his tenure with Minnesota so far. He praised Ten Hag and said: "For sure, I took loads from working with Erik. A really impressive guy with a real sense of strength and conviction.
