Rangers v Motherwell: Ibrox holds no fears for us, says Well boss

Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell is confident his side won’t show fear against Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow afternoon – because they haven’t in the past.

The Steelmen were unfortunate to lose 1-0 the last time they were in Govan in September, which was the second in a run of 15 Premiership games without a win, and Kettlewell hopes for a similar performance, if a better result.

But he also knows that the Ibrox side have changed their manager and are riding high at the top of the table under Philippe Clement and saw their 5-0 demolition of Hearts last Saturday, so knows what can happen.

But Kettlewell says his side go into the game in a strong position.

He said: “Everything that’s happened since I’ve been at the football club in just over a year would suggest that we don’t go into our shell.

“There is no fear, and we’ve generally had a good organisation when we’ve gone into tough games.

“That’s not to say that Rangers don’t have a lot of the ball, or a lot of crosses into our box, or have opportunities, because we’ve had to ride out those moments as well.

“But I don’t allude to a horrendous showing or that lack of confidence or belief, going to the big venues and playing against the top sides of the country.

“I don’t sit here with that feeling, because I don’t have too much evidence to suggest that – we’ve been really competitive in these types of games.

“Last time we went to play against Rangers their goalkeeper got booked for time-wasting and things like that, and I think that shows our level of performance that day.”

Kettlewell was delighted with the 3-1 win at Livingston on Wednesday and hopes that form is taken into the trip to Glasgow.
