Brendan Rodgers absence from Celtic training revealed as boss and skipper Callum McGregor missing in action

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was absent from training alongside skipper Callum McGregor but the boss is still expected to be in situ for his media duties on Friday.

Sky Sports reporter Mark Benstead revealed the Irishman wasn't in attendance for the final session before the crunch clash with Hearts with John Kennedy overseeing the first team within the their Lennoxtown training base. The champions are basking in the glow of their come from behind win over Motherwell before smashing Dundee 7-1.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Benstead stated: "Interesting little side note to training. It's not Brendan Rodgers overseeing this morning's session. John Kennedy is the man calling the shots so far. The Celtic manager is yet to make an appearance. We are due to speak to him at lunchtime, I imagine he will be on route. But, for the moment, John Kennedy is the man looking after this morning's session."

Skipper McGregor was substituted at half time for Daniel Kelly but spoke to the media at full time and his removal against the Dens Park side appeared to be about giving him a well earned rest rather than injury related.
