Kenny Dalglish is major Rangers title believer and lays out reasons why they're his favourites over Celtic

Impressed Kenny Dalglish believes red-hot Rangers are the favourites to see off Celtic and lift the Scottish Premiership title this season.

But the Hoops icon believes only a fool would write off Celtic – winners of 11 of the past 12 titles. Spirits at Ibrox are high with the galvanising impact of Philippe Clement in overturning a seven-point deficit and masterminding 10 straights wins to overtake the side who dominated over the past decade.

Dalglish talked up the Belgian's impact while stressing the magnitude of the final two derbies with only 10 games remaining. Speaking to No Tippy Tappy Football, the football icon said: "Celtic have got it all going on. They got kicked out of the League Cup against Kilmarnock, as well as losing a league game to them too, then they lost to Hearts at home who Rangers just turned over 5-0. They really need to get themselves in tune.

"You can never write Celtic off. However, Philippe Clement has just done such a good job at Rangers, with a couple of good signings since he took over, and they’re still in the last 16 in Europe. Under Clement, the only game they have lost is against Celtic, but that was a bit nip and tuck anyway.

"At the moment you’d have to say Rangers are the favourites and there are still two Old Firm games to come which could be vital for both teams – it’s a crucial fixture as it is! It’s always either been Celtic or Rangers for success in Scotland.”

The 72-year-old admits the game has changed since he was last in the Parkhead dugout 24 years ago but believes the path to success hasn't changed.

Dalglish added: “I think football had moved on a little bit when I went back to manage Celtic. The setup was different and there were a bunch of new people working for me.
