Rangers transfer news latest as Oscar Cortes deal maker sees 'good path' and Borna Barisic makes exit admission

Oscar Cortes is on a "good path" at Rangers, according to the man who helped broker his switch to Ibrox.

The Colombian winger joined on loan from Lens back on transfer deadline day in January, The initial deal included an option to buy at the end of the season, when Cortes would have signed a four-year deal with Gers. However, a serious injury rubbed the wideman of vital playing time, so another loan was agreed with the Ligue 1 outfit, this time with an obligation to buy at the end of the 2024/25 season.

Cortes is fit again and in the midst of his first pre-season with the Govan club under Philippe Clement, Fans were excited by the glimpses of his talent on display last term before he was sidelined. Tomas Sarmiento, owner to Top Athlete management, who represent Cortes, sewed the seeds of the Rangers deal at a Lisbon TransferRoom networking event in November last year, and hopes to get similar deals done, funneling more latin American talent to Europe.

"Through TransferRoom we had he opportunity to create exchanges, meetings and all of this," he said. "We came to a good deal and Oscar Cortes will continue at Rangers. It is a club that has helped him greatly to develop and adapt in Europe.

"I think he's on a good path and ideally, with all the help that TransferRoom provided, we'll continue our relationship, opening paths to new markets."

Meanwhile, Borna Barisic has revealed he turned down offers from a host of top European clubs to leave Rangers and sign for Trabzonspor. The former Ibrox full back joined up with the Turkish side this summer, along with Rangers colleague John Lundstram after six years in Glasgow.
