Rocketing Hannibal to Rangers rumour blown out the water as Celtic 'ready bid' for wanted Man United star

An escalating rumour stating Hannibal Mejri is on the verge of signing for Rangers in the coming hours has been stamped out hours before Manchester United's next game.

And now a report in Tunisia aired by Radio Mosaique is sensationally claiming Brendan Rodgers' Celtic are now on the verge of making an offer to sign the midfielder on a long-term contract. Fabrizio Romano noted the 21-year-old is admired by the Ibrox side, however, claims a deal is on the verge of completion on Wednesday appearing wide of the mark with the Tunisia international set for game time against Real Betis in San Diego tonight. The versatile midfielder is expected to head out, however, that is set to happen next month after previous loan stints with Birmingham and Sevilla, but that was before Celtic reportedly entered the mix.

And Romano revealed Philippe Clement is a major admirer of a player who is geared to exit Old Trafford. He said: "I think there will be some more exits, for example Hannibal Mejbri will be out in the next few days. They want to sell him on a permanent transfer and there is genuine interest from Rangers." But he has a key role to compete for Erik Ten Hag on his side's USA and now Celtic could be in for him.

Meanwhile, Chilean defender Thomas Galdames was targeted by Rangers earlier this summer but he is set to seal a move to Russia with Krylya Sovetov and he has vowed to donate half of his transfer fee back to his Argentinian club Godoy Cruz and a big-hearted gesture.
