Rangers 'hold talks' over Albion Rrahmani transfer as asking price set after Mexico summit with agent

Rangers director of football recruitment Nils Koppen has reportedly held talks with Albion Rrahmani's representatives about bringing him to Ibrox this summer.

Record Sport previously revealed Rrahmani has been extensively scouted by Ibrox chiefs and the 23-year-old looks set to leave Rapid Bucharest this summer after a successful campaign which has saw the Kosovo international net 17 goals. But a potential moves appears to have taken a step forward with Rangers said to have held talks with the player's agency at a Cancun transfer summit earlier this month.

During TransferRoom's Mexico convention on June 3 and 4 Koppen is said to have met with KT Management - who represent Albion Rrahmani. Digi Sport report that the striker is being "heavily courted" by the Light Blues' amid interest from across Europe. It has been claimed that Slavia Prague are willing to offer a fee in the region of £2.5million to secure the player - but that the Romanian club are aiming to secure a record sale at around £6.8million.

It is stated that the Scottish Premiership are the "favourite team" to land a deal at this stage - with Rangers willing to offer "double" Slavia's offer at around £5.1million. Rapid chief Victor Angelescu has openly stated that a sale is on the cards this summer.

He told Digi Sport: "There is a 75-80 per cent chance that, Rrahmani will leave. We must prepare for this scenario."

Philippe Clement has quickly got to work this summer bringing in Jefte from Fluminese. Both Oscar Cortes and Mohamed Diomande have also made their loan deals permanent.
