Rangers transfer state of play as Cyriel Dessers 'escalates' exit and rising Ibrox prodigy to pen long-term deal

Wanted Cyriel Dessers has reportedly handed in a transfer request at Rangers to escalate his looming transfer to Greek champions PAOK.

The Nigeria international came in for heavy flak last season but proved his mental fortitude to hang tough and net 22 goals in all competitions. But now the nomadic 29-year-old appears to be on the move again with multiple reports in Greece claiming he's satisfied with the package on the table – days after PAOK were tipped to land former Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite.

Rangers are expected to be in the market for a striker with Rapid Bucharest's Albion Rrahmani strongly linked and Brazilian forward Danilo on the way back from a significant injury. But Dessers appears set to be the first domino to fall as Philippe Clement revamps his squad. The No 9 has failed to convince despite a respectable goal haul and looks set to move on after arriving during the last summer rebuild just a year ago.

Elsewhere, highly-rated academy goalkeeper Mason Munn is on the verge of signing a new four-year deal to remain at Ibrox.
