Rangers diehards have been suffering Celtic Park woe long before ticket wars and something must change – Hotline

It's the ticket story that refuses to go away - and is anything but complimentary. Celtic chiefs are set to shut Rangers fans out of Parkhead in December after refusing their reduced allocation for Ibrox next month over fears for the fans’ safety.

David Wilkie, Millport, said: “The incessant bickering between the Old Firm clubs regarding ticket allocations is a huge concern, and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. Scottish clubs are no longer likely to compete or achieve on a European level, so there is therefore a need to concentrate on promoting the positives available through our domestic leagues. The atmosphere generated in derby games throughout the country remains historically palpable, whether it be in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Tayside, the Highlands or the Borders, and remains the bedrock of community spirit. Any deviation from a fair share of tickets in such fixtures will almost certainly have a detrimental effect on these encounters on an emotional scale, but also offer increased advantage to the home side.”

Kenny Wilson, Moffat, added: “On the subject of Celtic refusing tickets for Ibrox it’s clear things won’t go back to having 7000 away fans at each ground and it’s without a doubt ruining the fixture as the atmosphere with both sets of fans in is tremendous. It’s just a pity Rangers couldn’t handle Celtic fans celebrating in their ground every season.”

But Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: “How ironic the most fined club in Europe for fan misconduct claim their fans aren’t safe at Ibrox and have refused tickets for the upcoming match. Celtic want to come to Ibrox and get a full end corner to corner with prime views in our five-star stadium and in return put the Rangers support in a large restricted view area.
