Rangers board accused of treating fans like DIRT as Charlie Miller rips into 'diabolical' mismanagement

Charlie Miller still has full faith in Philippe Clement to do the business at Ibrox.

But the Rangers legend is fast running out of confidence in the money men above him. Tuesday night’s £40million Champions League exit at the hands of Dynamo Kyiv is the latest in a long line of costly missteps overseen by John Bennett and the directors he leads. Yet dizzied nine-in-a-row legend Miller admits he’s still struggling to get his head around the fact that this is where Gers now find themselves it’s only couple of seasons on from his old club following up an unbeaten Premiership triumph and a run to the Europa League final with a money-spinning slot in the group stages of UEFA’s top tournament.

Those successes - combined with the sales of Nathan Patterson, Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey - brought in huge riches. No-one can deny the posse of Ibrox investors have also ploughed huge wads of notes to keep the club afloat, with Bennett himself in for north of £20million. But real questions are now being asked about the way all those sums have been spent.

From the numerous costly legal battles that have drained precious reserves to the transfer mistakes under Ross Wilson and Michael Beale that have proved even more expensive. Throw on the construction cock up on the Copland Road end that has forced Clement’s squad to flit to Hampden and it all paints the picture of chaos at the top of the Marble Staircase.

Amid all that, Clement is the man charged with keeping the club going in the right direction. His team took a wrong turn at the national stadium this week but Miller insists now is not the time to be changing tack with the manager.

“Oh 100 percent I believe we need to stick by Clement,” the former Ibrox favourite told Record Sport.
