Ramsgate manager Lee Martin describes games against Aveley and Dartford as ‘decisive moment’ while sharing the relentless work ethic behind their great form
Manager Lee Martin says in-form Ramsgate are facing a decisive moment in their season.
Rams have moved to within four points of an Isthmian Premier play-off place after six wins in seven games.
Their top-five credentials will be tested at home to second-placed Aveley this Saturday (5.30pm) and in a rearranged match at Dartford on Tuesday (7.45pm).
They go into the weekend in great shape after Solomon Ogunwomoju’s double in a 2-1 win at Carshalton last Saturday maintained their unbeaten start to 2026.
“We’ve earmarked these matches as a decisive moment in our season,” said Martin.
“I know that sounds a bit dramatic but they’re two very difficult opponents coming up.”
Ramsgate are one of the best-supported teams in the division, averaging almost 1,200 at home games.
It’s hoped the switch to a Saturday teatime kick-off against Aveley will entice even more supporters for a key match.
“These sorts of games give us an opportunity to try things because it might be a way of gaining more punters,” said Martin.
“I think it will entice more, let’s hope so, because we’ll need that 12th man.
“They don’t realise just how big a part they play in our success.
“With the size of the club, you know it’s going to be a successful model.
“It doesn’t rest and it’s backed by a chairman (James Lawson) who sets those standards.
“The fanbase, and everyone else, is pulling in the right direction, and that won’t stop.
“It’s a continual push, so these things the chairman designs are with that in mind, trying to see if we do get more fans through the door. If we do, superb - the more the merrier.”
Martin has shared an insight into the attention to detail behind Ramsgate’s magnificent form.
The management team leave no stone unturned in their pursuit
