Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock says early-season signs promising despite two defeats in first three Isthmian Premier games

Ramsgate manager Ady Pennock has been pleased with their first week of competitive action - even if they haven’t got the points to show for their efforts.

Defeats to Leatherhead and Enfield Town have sandwiched Pennock’s first Isthmian Premier win for Ramsgate away to Stanway Rovers last midweek.

The points haul doesn’t reflect the performances, but the former Gillingham boss believes his squad are on the right track.

“I’ve been pleasantly pleased,” stated Pennock. “There’s obviously more to come and there’ll be more points to come.

“We’ve got players coming back from injury and I’m trying to get at least one new face if we can before Saturday.

“There’s a real bond there in the changing room and that’ll only be great. That’ll keep growing as the season goes on.

“I’m obviously not happy with the points haul that we’ve had. We’d love to have nine points, obviously, but we should have arguably more points performance-wise.

“The points will definitely come because the performances have been really good.”

The 3-2 defeat at Enfield last Saturday was tough to take for Ramsgate, who had a late equaliser from substitute Solomon Ogunwomoju ruled out before the injured referee blew for time two minutes early.

Pennock was left speechless by a number of incidents late on in the game but knew there was nothing he could do.

“The referee got cramp and should have come off but he carried on,” said Pennock.

“We had a goal disallowed, which he said was offside but we’ve looked at it again and Solomon was miles onside.

“The linesman put his flag up for offside but then at full-time they said it was for a foul.

“Roland Edge (assistant manager) went to see them after and they didn’t really know what the reason was.
